I disagree, and I think had you continued reading you may have realized why.

Those were indeed desperation saves. And as I wrote, they were “spectacular examples of both” Reaction and Blocking Saves. Further down, I describe the differences between much more ‘standard’ and ‘higher percentage’ in-position Blocking/Reaction saves.

I found the comparison between a reaction save and a blocking was “very poor” at best… I stopped reading there.

There’s a third type of save that these two saves fall under – a last resort save. They are not the results of reflexes (reaction), and they are not the results of positionning playing the % (blocking).

what about the 5-hole goals that have been trickling in? I see every so often a goalie will twist their legs to the side or put a glove to the back to catch the trickling puck… I haven’t seen this for the 5-hole goals that have been getting in on Luongo…
