I didn’t see Blade Runner until I was about the same age, 12 or so, and it too was eye-opening. Have you ever seen the theatrical cut of Blade Runner? It was dreadful! It has an awful narration by Deckard over all the wonderfully quiet, tone-setting scenes, where supposedly ‘nothing is happening’, scenes that you just don’t see much any longer. That version was released without Ridley Scott’s permission, and fortunately he was able to release his Director’s Cut on VHS and all subsequent re-releases. A post on the evolution of directors’ cuts is on my to-do list, and I’m planning to go through in more detail. Stay tuned for it (eventually).

It too, became an instant classic in my mind. Along with Hellraiser II(’88), and Blade Runner (’82). All of which I managed to watch for the first time within those few formative years.

I really enjoy the way you write. It is very emotional.
